Worldwide Programs

Freedom from Hunger combines microfinance with health and lifeskills services to equip very poor families to improve their incomes, safeguard their health and achieve lasting food security. To implement and expand our programs sustainably, we collaborate with a network of more than 50 local organizations in 16 countries. Credit with Education – A Proven Self-Help Solution

Credit with Education is Freedom from Hunger's worldwide strategy to bring self-help solutions to the fight against hunger -- one family at a time. We launched the first Credit with Education program in 1988 in West Africa. What was then a bold new strategy—combining microcredit loans to very poor women with vital health and business education—has become recognized as a powerful and proven approach to helping families become food-secure.

Empowering Women

Credit with Education invests in the determination of a woman to feed her children, and equips her for success. Through a combination of cash credit and vital health/nutrition education, women can buy more and better food, invest in their children's education, take control of their families' health, and help each other to have a greater influence in their communities.

Grassroots Outreach

At Freedom from Hunger, we believe true sustainability begins with collaboration. Although we design and develop programs here in America, we know their effectiveness depends on the full participation of local people who share our commitment to serving the very poor. With training and assistance from Freedom from Hunger, local organizations can implement high-quality programs and become permanent resources to the poorest citizens of their countries.
